Appointments

Routine GP Appointments

Routine GP appointments are available to book online and through the surgery reception.  In line with national practice, for the majority of patients these will be an initial telephone call with an offer of a face to face appointment if clinically appropriate or agreed between the GP and the patient.

Antenatal, postnatal and pessary change appointments will be booked as face to face appointments without the need for telephone triage first.

Urgent Same Day telephone triage

These are offered throughout the day for matters that are clinically urgent or cannot wait until a routine appointment becomes available.  We cannot guarantee that the appointment will be with the patients usual GP.  These are ALWAYS offered as a telephone appointment initially.  If a face to face appointment following this is required this will be offered within a clinically appropriate time frame.

The demand for these appointments is currently extremely high and are often for routine or minor clinical concerns.  We would ask patients to consider whether booking a routine appointment would be more appropriate.

Please be aware that our receptionists may ask for some basic information about the nature of your appointment request so they may direct your request to the relevant professional or department.

Email Access

Administrative and non urgent clinical queries can be emailed to rccg.secretaries.mortimer@nhs.net stating clearly which clinician or department they relate to. These will be directed to the appropriate member of the team who will respond by email if required. This is not to be used for urgent issues either clinical or non clinical and it may take up to 3 working days to receive a response.

Clinical Pharmacist

We have a clinical Pharmacist  Ania Nadja who is working at the surgery.  She will be dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions, doing medication reviews and some chronic disease management.  She is working alongside the GP’s and has the appropriate training for dealing with all these issues

Blood Test Appointments

Due to staff shortages we no longer accommodate hospital requests for blood tests.

Blood tests can be booked at West Berkshire Community Hospital Thatcham https://wbch.sangix.co.uk

or Royal Berkshire Hospital Reading and Bracknell https://www.swiftqueue.co.uk/royal_berkshire.php
