Patient Transport

Do you need help getting to medical appointments?

Mortimer & Burghfield Volunteer Bureau is available to help patients who need transport for medical appointments.

If you are elderly, frail or disabled and cannot get to the surgery, you can ask the Volunteer Bureau for help. They can offer door-to-door transport provided by volunteer drivers.  They can also help you get to hospital and various other medical appointments.

The Bureau asks for a donation to cover the cost of petrol - please give plenty of notice to avoid disappointment.

Please phone for assistance Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 11.30am on telephone number 0118 983 1814.

The Bureau is looking for new volunteer drivers

“We always need new drivers, so any offer of help would be very welcome both for specific days and times, or flexible times. No regular commitment is expected and drivers are free to accept or refuse drives as is convenient to them. A mileage allowance is paid.

If you are recently retired or have some spare time, do consider volunteering for this valuable community service.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver please telephone the Bureau on 0118 983 1814 between 09.30 and 11.30 am Monday to Friday or call in personally, during the same hours, at the office which is at the Burghfield Methodist Church on Reading Road”
